The Single Most Important Thing You Must Do For Faster Fat Loss
By Shannon Clark

If you're looking to lose weight fast, there are a number of things you should be doing. You must find a good fat loss weight training program to follow; you need to decide on the type, duration, and form of cardio training you will perform, and you may need to start cleaning out your cupboards so you can get rid of all the foods that will serve to tempt you while you're on your fat loss plan.

But is this all enough? Not quite. In order to see really great results and experience faster fat loss, there's something else you must be doing - and that something is figuring out your total calorie intake for your weight loss diet.

The Issue With Too Few Calories

For most people, when thinking about the number of calories they will take in with their fat loss program, it comes down to one simple answer - as little as possible.

They figure that the fewer calories they take in on a daily basis, the faster they are going to see results. If they lose one pound a week at an intake of 1500 calories a day, they can lose two pounds a week if they reduce that down to 1000 calories.

Only it doesn't quite work that way. The problem with this thinking is that there comes a point where the body is actually going to start fighting back.

How Many Is Too Many?

Then you may be asking, if too few is no good, how do you know what's too many? Obviously you must take in fewer calories than maintenance, so where do you cap it?

This is very true - if you take in too many calories, you will just prevent any weight loss from taking place. The important thing you need to keep in mind is that you must monitor your calorie intake so you can get a very good indication what your maintenance calories are.

Many people do not know this which causes them to take a 'shotgun' approach to their diet. When you know how many calories you need to maintain yourself on a daily basis, it becomes very easy to adjust downwards so that you can start seeing fat loss happen. When you have no idea about this, then it's incredibly difficult.

Defining The Careful Balance

So at the end of the day, the most important thing you can do to successfully lose weight on your fat loss diet is make sure there is balance. You don't want to spend too long on a very low calorie diet, but you don't want to spend too long on a higher calorie diet either.

A good way to solving this issue is to implement higher carb days with lower carb days and let this naturally control your total calorie intake. Many people have very good success with this approach so it might be one you want to consider.
